A Turkish court have ordered Facbook to block certain pages of its site that are deemed insulting to the Prophet Mohammad and are threatening to stop access to the full Facebook social networking site if they don’t comply.

Apparently Facebook have blocked one page in response to a valid legal request from Turkish authorities. The court order is the latest move to crack down on material seen as offending religious sensibilities in the largely Muslim nation, where the government of President Tayyip Erdogan is widely seen as pursuing an Islamist-leaning agenda.

Facebook re-launches ‘Lite’
Facebook has relaunched ‘lite’ for low end android phones which is a more simple version of the Facebook mobile app which was originally released in 2009.

With lower end devices in mind the app can operate on poor internet connections and 2G networks. It’s based on Snaptu the firms feature phone client, but has incorporated some native android features.
