Sony Pictures CEO, Cyber-attack won't set us back

For many weeks now, Sony Pictures have had to deal with the after effects of a cyber-attack. 


Sony said that the overall costs associated with the cyber-attack, will be covered in full by insurance and will not mean any cost-cutting after a few years of restructuring. They also said that cost is far less than anybody was imagining and certainly shouldn't be disruptive to their budget. Some experts have put the cost at up to $100 million.
 
meaning that their active users number is more than Instagram and Twitter the app now boasts 700 million monthly active users, WhatsApp has currently got 700 million users monthly which is the same as the population of the US, UK, France, Russia, Germany, Australia, and New Zealand combined. While its membership figures don’t quite match that of Facebook, which has 1.35 billion monthly active users, they manage to dwarf Instagram and Twitter’s figures of 300 million and 284 million respectively
 
Microsoft and Google Team Clash Over Bug

Google has criticised Microsoft after the search giant publicised a security flaw in Windows which some said could put users at risk. 


Microsoft reacted angrily when Google posted the detail of the bug online before a patch to fix it was released. The disclosure was part of Google's Project Zero initiative that seeks to pressure firms into dealing with security problems more quickly. Google's Project Zero aims to find bugs in popular software and then give the manufacturers responsible for the software 90 days to fix the problem. This bug, which affects Windows 8.1, was revealed by Google to Microsoft on 13 October 2014. On 11 January, Google publicised the flaw to which Microsoft said it had asked that Google wait until it released a patch on 13 January.
 
The Delivery Conference (3rd February)
