Snap, the company that owns Snapchat, has launched its video recording sunglasses online in the US. Previously the glasses were only available from popup vending machines in many cities across the US. The roll out has been made prior to Snap’s initial public offering on the stock market, Snap is seeking a valuation of up to $22bn (£17.5bn), even though they have made losses.

UK online retail sales were up +12 per cent year-on-year (YoY) in January, according to the latest figures from the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index. This represents a steady start to the year for online sales, having built on a solid performance in January 2016, when growth was +15 per cent. Read more at Ecommerce Club

The subscription packages on Amazon and most notably the Prime service brought in big revenues for Amazon in 2016 of $6.4bn (£5.1bn) in 2016, up 43.1 per cent year-on-year.

This was according to an SEC filing made by the retailer, which broke out Prime revenues for the first time. In 2015, Amazon made $4.5bn from subscription services but, while the amount is hardly anything to sniff at, but it’s still far behind Amazon’s core retail business, which brought in $91.4bn last year.
Yahoo has set up content distribution deals with a host of premium UK publishing partners, and through these deals publishers will be able to distribute content in partnership with Yahoo. This will be done via a curated feed across five countries – including the UK, USA, Canada, India and Singapore – enabling reach to a global audience.
