Smart tech: brands must work to realise its potential
While smart tech is becoming prevalent, there is a still a lot of work to be done in making consumers feel comfortable with its use. A report from Harris Interactive, Smart Life, surveyed over 4,000 individuals aged 16 plus from across the UK, also revealed a similar scenario regarding the Internet of Things (IoT): although nearly half (48%) of respondents are aware of the IoT, just one in eight (13%) feel very familiar with the innovation. Missing the mark: dissatisfaction with amount and irrelevance of brand communications
Consumers across the UK are dissatisfied with the number of brand messages they receive. The study, from Mailjet, indicates that whilst 84% of consumers now welcome brand interaction via real-time notifications across their portable devices, respondents expressed a clear priority for brands to provide better personalisation (41%) in how they interact through emails, with improvements to the timeliness (34%) and regularity (28%) also highly desired.
