Samsung Electronics have launched the first ever smartphone powered by the Tizen operating system. The Samsung Z which will go on sale in Russia in the next few months, the platform will make Samsung less dependent on Androids developer, Google. The company will show off the phone at the Tizen Developer Conference, being held this week in San Francisco.
Strikes at Amazon Warehouse in Germany

The U.S. company employs a total of 9,000 warehouse staff at nine distribution centres in Germany, its second-biggest market behind the United States, plus 14,000 seasonal workers. Verdi wants Amazon to raise pay for workers at its distribution centres in accordance with collective bargaining agreements across the mail order and retail industry in Germany and has organized several stoppages over the past year.

One of the founders of Pirate Bay file-sharing website has been arrested in Sweden to serve an outstanding sentence for copyright violations after being on the run for nearly two years, Swedish police said on Saturday. Peter Sunde had been wanted by Interpol since 2012 after being sentenced in Sweden to prison and fined for breaching copyright laws. Pirate Bay, launched in 2003, provided links to music and movie files that were stored on other users' computers. Swedish subsidiaries of prominent music and film companies had taken the company to court claiming damages for lost revenue.

John Lewis is to pay damagesregarding the dissemination of unsolicited spam email.


John Lewis is to pay damages regarding the dissemination of unsolicited spam email. The ruling regarding customer privacy could lead to thousands of consumers seeking compensation, and potentially change the way companies send out mass marketing emails. The case was brought against the retailer by Roddy Mansfield, a Sky news reporter. He had registered his details with John Lewis’ website, a process which includes a pre-ticked box consenting to marketing emails. However, an EU law from 2003 makes it an offence to send unsolicited emails if a recipient is unaware they have been opted in and isn’t a customer.
