The desire for highly engaging rich media ad formats has intensified as more brands realise there is a huge opportunity to improve ad effectiveness, with no increase in media spend.
Jivox survey found that 51% of ad agencies have seen a rise in client demand for dynamic rich media ads and another 20% expect to see more interest going forward. This demand in part is due to the availability of standardized rich media ad formats, like the IAB large canvas “Rising Stars”. http://www.jivox.com/ad-gallery/rising-stars
However amidst this rapid rise in rich media adoption, the pervasive use of mobile devices has created new challenges and frustrations for advertisers. Those that are running rich media ads are finding it difficult to do so across different screen sizes, with 88% agreeing that the process is somewhat to very stressful. Another 42% characterised the task as downright painful, and 15% don’t bother trying.
The need to run rich media ads across multiple screens is increasingly pressing: according to recent findings 69% of all Internet users access the Web through a mobile/tablet device. If these rich media ads are in Flash or not optimised for mobile, they won’t render effectively which will limit impressions, reduce engagement and negatively affect the campaign ROI. To attract mobile consumers who are also less responsive to static ads, rich media advertisers must raise their level of creativity and improve the agility of their technology. Otherwise they are just wasting money.
Only then will they meet today’s growing market imperative of capturing and engaging with consumers across many screens.
Jivox enables the world’s top advertisers and agencies to deliver personalised advertising across all screens

Cab-ordering firm Uber has been criticised for increasing fares by up to four times normal rates during the hostage crisis in Sydney, Australia. As the police cordoned off a wide area around the Lindt cafe where a gunman was holding staff and customers hostage, Uber's pricing algorithm raised prices as demand spiked. Uber responded to the criticism by offering free journeys out of the city's central business district and also refunded some passengers.
